Joints in hollow conductors used for water-cooled magnets can cause the leakage of water. Therefore, longer coils reduce the number of joints, which reduces the risk of water leakage.
Luvata's Mileon^® is a very long, joint-free hollow conductor. It enables us to provide coil lengths of several hundreds or thousands of meters, not just simply lengths of a few meters.
The heaviest weight of a single coil (without joints) is approximately 1,700 kg.
Luvata's Mileon^® coils use only oxygen free copper as their material and are produced following strict quality standards that meet the standards of other hollow conductors.
Using Luvata's Mileon^® coils reduces copper crud, which is generated in the magnet production process, and contributes to reducing the use of expensive copper.
In addition, the long coils can flexibly respond to rapid change of construction when compared with short coils that have been cut to a predefined length.
In addition, unlike conventional coils, Luvata's Mileon^® coils are wound around a wood spool, which can save packaging materials and reduce environmental impacts.

Over our long history in hollow conductor production we have accumulated several thousand dies, and we are able to produce dies of almost any size with an extremely short lead time.
We are able to provide sizes as small as 4 x 4 mm (0.1 kg or heavier per meter) up to larger sizes exceeding 100 mm widths (weighing up to 20 kg per meter).
We can also provide small amounts of conductors for prototyping.

Luvata's hollow conductors use high-purity oxygen-free copper, Luvata's OF-OK^®, and have high conductivity (conductivity of 100% IACS or higher).
The Luvata OF-OK^® oxygen-free copper used in Luvata's hollow conductors, uses selected high purity raw materials and are produced in-house.
When excellent heat resistance or creep properties are required, Luvata recommends using silver-containing copper (Cu-0.03% Ag or Cu-0.01% Ag) using Luvata's OF-OK^® copper as the main material.
Luvata's silver-containing copper has a high electric and heat conductivity. In addition, because it is based on oxygen-free copper, it has brazing and welding properties superior to tough pitch copper.
